Of course, Jinx isn’t the only popular champion from League of Legends to inspire impressive examples of cosplay. Notably, costume-making expert White Fox shared their interpretation of Withered Rose Syndra towards the beginning of 2023; the outfit showcases the Dark Sovereign’s regal confidence and sinister power. Similarly, YugoroForge decided to celebrate the winter holidays by fabricating a Christmas-themed version of Soraka, one of the game’s most classic champions.

League of Legends’ Popularity Continues 14 Years On

Developed and published by Riot Games, League of Legends is a free-to-play multiplayer battle arena game that officially launched back in 2009. Working together on teams of five, players take control of unique champions with their own individual abilities and attempt to take control of the map, invade the other team’s base and destroy their Nexus to achieve victory. League of Legends remains popular to this day with an incredible concurrent player record of eight million, despite consistent criticisms of toxicity with the fanbase.

Arcane Masterfully Adapts League of Legends

The game’s high level of popularity and success has resulted in a plethora of spinoffs and adaptations in the forms of comics, music videos and the aforementioned cartoon. Created by Alex Yee and Christian Linke and produced by studio Fortiche, Arcane made its debut in November 2021 and went on win multiple prestigious awards like Outstanding Animation Program and Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation at the 2022 Primetime Emmys. It also claimed the title of Best Adaptation at The Game Years that year.

The show tells the story of sisters Vi and Powder (aka Jinx) as they navigate living in Zaun, the impoverished and oppressed underbelly of the seemingly utopian city of Piltover. A second season of Arcane has been greenlit, but it will not premiere in 2023. Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent explained the reasons behind the delay, stating, “you want the quality, we just don’t want to rush, and so that takes time, and that’s a good reason.”

League of Legends is playable on macOS and PC, and Arcane is available on Netflix.
