But what happens next? Coach Monica is still on the hunt for her next championship, and TVCC is there with them in the battle for cheer supremacy. Will Netflix approve the third season of Cheer? Here is everything we know so far about a possible Cheer Season 3 on Netflix.
Plot of Cheer Season 1 and Season 2
Season 1 of Netflix’s Emmy-winning Cheer premiered in January 2020, and it captivated the world. Corsicana, Texas, was the setting for the first six episodes of the sports docuseries. It followed the Navarro College Bulldogs Cheer Team as they prepared for the high-stakes annual NCA National Championships in Daytona Beach, Florida. The National Championships were held in Daytona Beach, Florida. Cheerleaders Jerry Harris, Gabi Butler, Lexi Brumback, Morgan Simianer, and La’Darius Marshall rose to prominence as a result of Cheer’s popularity. In addition, the show received a spoof SNL sketch starring Adam Driver, a Stephen Colbert appearance on ‘The Late Show,’ and performance slots and fundraising money from The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
When Netflix’s ‘Cheer’ first aired in early 2020, it took the world by storm with its remarkably gritty and powerful depiction of competitive cheerleading. While Season 1 was entirely focused on the Bulldogs, Season 2 introduced viewers to Trinity Valley Community College’s cheerleading team in Athens, Texas — Navarro’s most aggressive rival. Thanks to a charming coach and teammates with captivating backstories, Trinity Valley’s cheerleaders are sure to bring some serious competition to the mat. The second series consists of nine almost chronologically ordered episodes and lasts between 40 and 66 minutes each.
Despite the lengthy duration, the plot is so compelling that it makes for an excellent binge-watch. We get a better look at Trinity Valley Community College and its head coach, Vontae Jonhson, on a plus side. In competitions, the two teams usually compete against each other, and as the trailer shows, if Navarro fails, a new victorious team will emerge. Greg Whiteley’s style is to create sports documentaries with no clear ending because the connection between personal stories and competitions persists. It would be exciting to know what is in the kitty of Season 3 if it comes. So, calm your curiosity and let us unveil the secret for you in the coming part.
Will there be a Cheer Season 3 on Netflix Platform?
After the massive popularity, every fan anticipated the new season coming soon. We are yet to know whether Cheer Season 3 is confirmed or not, but we can surely tell you that it could happen quickly due to the fan following this show has got. As we know that Netflix declared Season 2 in December 2021, it is assumed that Season 3 will be coming shortly. However, we now know that Whiteley and his crew were back in Navarro two years ago shooting. That means Cheer Season 3 could already be in the works. We won’t know until Netflix confirms whether or not Cheer Season 3 will go ahead!
There was a two-year delay between the premieres of Cheer Season 1 and Season 2. However, we can tell from Cheer Season 2 that the original plan was to follow Navarro and TVCC in the run-up to the 2020 NCA Championships in Daytona. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the event, the season followed the student-athletes into the following season. As a result, the Cheer Season 2 finale focuses on “Daytona” 2021.
According to social media, Monica Aldama and Vontae Johnson are still mentoring Navarro and TVCC. As a result, a potential Cheer Season 3 would conclude with the 2022 NCA Championships in Daytona. So, according to that logic, Cheer Season 3 could debut on Netflix in January 2023. That is, assuming Cheer Season 3 takes place and Daytona isn’t canceled due to COVID this year.
What can we expect in Cheer Season 3?
Seasons 1 and 2 of ‘Cheer’ introduced Navarro’s Head Coach Monica Aldama, then-Assistant Coach Andy Cosferent, former Student Assistant Coach Kapena Kea, and athletes such as Lexi Brumback, Morgan Simianer, Jerry Harris, La’Darius Marshall, Gabi Butler, Maddy Brum, and Gillian Rupert, among others. Trinity Valley’s coaches, Vontae Johnson and Khris Franklin, as well as their star athletes, Jada Wooten, Ben “Benji” Chester, Devonte “Dee” Joseph, Jayden “Jaymo” Rice, and Angel Rice, have also been seen in the series.
These members are expected to be seen in the next season as well because all the players or athletes will try to grab different opportunities. We can expect to see Monica Aldama, Vontae Johnson, Khris Franklin, and a slew of new faces, in addition to those stars who are still enrolled in their respective community colleges with that in mind. Maddy, Gillian, Aliyah Clark, Dee, Benji, Jaymo, and Angel may or may not be among them. It would be terrific to see our favorite stars opening up a bit more in their lives and, in a way entertaining us differently.

What can be the plot of Season 3?
As we already know, Season 1 and Season 2 were all about Navarro’s and TVCC’s competition, accusations on Jerry Harris, their struggles to handle the fame they got. Season 3 can be carrying the legacy from the point where Season 2 has left to keep the tale going. Undoubtedly, this season will showcase the profiles of the new cast members too. Along with introducing a new cast, season 3 can follow the entire preparation process to maintain the show’s format. As TVCC won the national title in 2021, the season can entirely be dedicated to them as well. Whatever the case may be, there would be a lot of stunts, basket tossing, and tumbling.
Many expectations are there from season 3, and it will take some time to put all the thoughts in place to make an excellent piece like seasons 1 and 2. Both seasons look at everything from falls to fights and from devotion to successes to highlight why cheerleading is such an important sport.
