Daredevil Cosplay Recreates Matt Murdock as Lawyer and Vigilante

A fan of Netflix’s Daredevil series has created a cosplay that incorporates both of Matt Murdock’s identities: his day job as a lawyer, and the vigilante known in Season 1 of the show as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.

Reddit user Confident_Door8862 shared a series of photos featuring himself in the two different costumes. Three of the images show the cosplayer wearing a suit and tie along with Daredevil’s trademark round red glasses and tousled hair. In a nod to the character’s tendency to take blows during fights, leaving injuries that he tried to hide during daylight hours, the cosplay includes a bloody lip and some bandages on his face.

The other two photos are of the homemade black outfit that Matt wore in Season 1 for his vigilante missions, complete with a mask that covers his eyes and ropes that wrap around his hands to protect them.

Daredevil’s TV Evolution Through Costumes

Daredevil premiered on Netflix in 2015, starring Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer by day whose secret identity was the so-called Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. At the end of the first season, Matt obtained a red costume with a horned helmet, inspired by the one used most often in the Marvel comics that inspired the series, and was known from that point on as Daredevil.

Cox has reprised the role in two Marvel Cinematic Universe projects since Daredevil‘s cancelation in 2018, and will lead a new series in 2024 titled Daredevil: Born Again. In 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, he appeared as Peter Parker’s lawyer with no direct reference to his superhero persona, but in the Disney+ series She-Hulk, Cox played Daredevil in a new red-and-yellow suit that pays tribute to the comic character’s first costume.

Daredevil: Born Again will reunite Cox with his Daredevil co-stars Vincent D’Onofrio and Jon Bernthal, reprising their respective roles of Wilson Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin and Frank Castle a.k.a. the Punisher. At least one Daredevil character is being recast for the new series, but at this time it isn’t known if any other actors from the Netflix Marvel series will be returning for the MCU’s reboot.

All episodes of Daredevil are available to stream now on Disney+. Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to premiere in 2024 with an 18-episode first season.
