In its second quarter earnings release, the Walt Disney Company has generally met or exceeded the expectations that Wall Street had for the corporation. However, there are some definite areas where Disney is continuing to struggle. For instance, its global subscription numbers for its flagship streaming service, Disney+, have dropped now for the second quarter in a row after sustained growth for three years.
Disney currently has 157.8 million global subscribers, which is down 4 million subscribers from the previous quarter. Much of that has to do with a huge drop in Disney + Hotstar, the company’s streaming service in India, which saw a shocking 8% drop in subscribers.
