Doctor Who Season 14 Video Features Millie Gibson’s Distraught New Companion

Millie Gibson ready for Ruby Sunday in Doctor Who

An unofficial behind-the-scenes video from the Doctor Who set gives fans a glimpse of new companion Ruby Sunday in action, chasing after a taxi.

A Doctor Who Season 14 set video just dropped that features Millie Gibson’s new companion, Ruby Sunday.

The unofficial behind-the-scenes clip surfaced on Twitter. It shows Gibson in costume as Ruby running down the street chasing after a taxi, which she fails to catch. Gibson acts visibly upset at missing the taxi, pacing with her hands on her hips and wiping tears from her eyes. The scene is reportedly set in Notting Hill, London, as evidenced by the taxi being one of the city’s famous black cabs. Despite this, filming actually took place in Clifton, Bristol.

The BBC announced that Gibson would portray Ruby Sunday in November 2022. As part of the announcement, Gibson released a statement saying she was “honored” to join the cast of the long-running sci-fi series opposite incoming Doctor Ncuti Gatwa. “It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have traveled in before me,” Sunday’s statement said, in part. “And what better way to do that than being by the fabulous Ncuti Gatwa’s side, I just can’t wait to get started.” The announcement also included Gatwa’s response to Gibson’s casting, in which he said the English actor “has a cheeky sparkle in her eye and is sharp as a razor.”

Filming Gets Underway On Doctor Who Season 14

Filming on Doctor Who Season 14 kicked off in December 2022. The BBC marked the milestone by tweeting a photo of the Doctor’s iconic time-traveling spaceship the TARDIS accompanied by a clapperboard branded with the show’s logo. Showrunner Russell T Davies has since confirmed that Doctor Who‘s next full season will run for only eight episodes, which he acknowledged was far less than fans would’ve hoped for. At the same time, he promised that the series will ramp up production going forward. “It takes a while to get the empire in shape, but that’s a serious plan: annual Doctor Who, no gap years, lots of content, on and on,” Davies said.

Season 14 will also introduce a mysterious new character, Roger ap Gwilliam, who will be played by Aneurin Barnard.
