Secret Invasion star Emilia Clarke is in awe of Marvel Studios, considering its entire process of creating films and television to be “mind-boggling.”
Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is all praise for Marvel Studios, in awe of the kind of content the studio creates for audiences.
Speaking to Collider, Clarke called Marvel’s entire process of creating shows and films “mind-boggling,” saying, “It’s like everyone at Marvel knows how to unlock the Rubik’s cube, and you couldn’t even possibly — I can’t do a Rubik’s Cube to save my damn life. I hope a lot of people can’t also. It’s like they have some secret thing, and it just works. It just works!” The award-winning actor said that she doesn’t understand how the major studio manages to constantly create such hugely popular films and shows. “They’re drinking some water over there,” she joked. “I don’t know what it is. It’s fabulous. […] They nail it. They just absolutely nail it.”

Clarke also described how “brilliant” it was to work with the studio. “We had a lot of laughs. They’re just so chill, and I think I’m not that chill, and I think if I were them, I would be so unchill all the time,” she said. Clarke is set to star in Secret Invasion, Marvel’s upcoming miniseries that will premiere on Disney+. Recently, new details about Clarke’s character on the show emerged, prompting speculation that she will play the role of a Skrull named G’iah.
Marvel has been careful to keep all major information about Secret Invasion and its plot details under wraps. Currently, confirmed cast members aside from Clarke include Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Cobie Smulders, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Martin Freeman and Don Cheadle.
Secret Invasion is based on a 2008 Marvel Comics arc of the same name. The plot of the original comics revolved around the Skrulls, a shape-shifting alien race who had secretly replaced several important figures across the Marvel Universe. Skrulls were first introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain Marvel.
Though many details regarding the show haven’t emerged yet, cast member Freeman shared how Secret Invasion will be a significant departure from other MCU projects. “It feels pretty different to stuff I’ve seen,” he said. “It does feel like a little departure. Yeah, it does — in ways that I wouldn’t be that able to describe. Again, I’ve not seen it. I’ve not even read all of it,” the Sherlock star added. According to Freeman, the show is going to be “pretty dark” and a “bit murky.”
Secret Invasion is set to premiere in Spring 2023.
