Jamie Foxx is teaming up with the daughter Corrine for We Are Family, a new reality show on Fox.
Per Variety, the celebrated actor and musician will co-host the musical game show which will follow in the steps of The Masked Singer as celebrities in disguise perform alongside their lesser-known siblings. The studio audience will then be given an opportunity to guess the identity of the obscured celebrity, with the correct responses winning $100,000 each. “Showcasing non-famous relatives of celebrities performing duets with their hidden famous family member, We Are Family will feature a studio audience entirely comprised of 100 contestants playing through multiple rounds of clues and gameplay to win up to $100,000 each by correctly guessing which celebrity the performer is related to before they are revealed. Celebrities appearing on ‘We Are Family’ will range from musicians and professional athletes to actors and beyond,” reads the official description.
“We are thrilled to be developing We Are Family with Jeff Apploff and our friends at Fox Entertainment after so much success with six seasons of Beat Shazam” said Jamie and Corinne Foxx. “We hope this show brings as much fun to audiences at home as we’ve had creating it when it premieres next year.” A specific release date has yet to be confirmed but the show is expected to meet a 2024 premiere window despite the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike.
“Jamie and Corinne are important partners to the Fox Family,” said Allison Wallach, president of unscripted programming for Fox Entertainment. “Their boundless energy and charming interplay with contestants are irresistible, which make them the perfect hosts of We Are Family. This series joins Fox’s fast-growing list of premium music-centric competition series.”
Jamie Foxx’s Medical Complications
Jamie Foxx recently made headlines when he was rushed to the hospital due to a “sudden medical complication” in April 2023. While the nature of the incident was not disclosed, Corrine Foxx confirmed that her father made a swift recovery despite many reports claiming otherwise. “Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild,” Corrine Foxx wrote in early May. “My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday. Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support!” At the time of writing, the nature of the “medical complication” is still unknown.
We Are Family is slated to premiere in 2024.
