A new billboard for Shazam! Fury of the Gods in Los Angeles sees the World’s Mightiest Mortal about to go up against a dragon.

As shared in a video on Twitter, the billboard sees the dragon roaring at Shazam while getting ready to blast him with a blue flame from its mouth. However, Shazam looks at the viewer with a cocky expression on his face and points at his enemy, while text between the characters reads, “This guy.” The dragon itself had been previously seen in Fury of the Gods’ first trailer and a recent TV spot highlighting its battle with Shazam.

Shazam 2’s Dragon Has Myth and LotR Origins

The dragon’s presence in Fury of the Gods ties into a statement by director David F. Sandberg last year. In that interview, he revealed that instead of the comics, the movie would draw inspiration from Greek mythology, mentioning that one of the creatures in it would be a dragon he described as “sort of made of wood and [was able to emanate] a fear effect.” Sandberg recalled why this route was taken, even though the first Shazam! film had success both critically and commercially. “We landed there because Shazam’s powers come from Greek gods. So what if those powers were stolen from the gods and now they want revenge?”

Sandberg would later delve into the origin of the dragon, saying that he wanted to be more creative with making the creature. “With the dragon, it was like, ‘We’ve seen so many dragons, in Game Of Thrones and The Hobbit and all these things, so we have to do something different,'” remarked Sandberg. “He’s made out of wood because he was born from the Tree of Life — that’s what he protects. And he can emanate fear. If you’re standing in front of him, you won’t be able to move and he can go straight up and eat you.”

On the Big Red Cheese’s end of things, Sandberg commented that while Billy Batson is still the movie’s star, Fury of the Gods is also about his family. However, Sandberg started that they have difficulty being superheroes. “They’ve all been superheroes for a while now, trying to stop crime and save people,” he noted. “But they’re not very good at it. The city [of Philadelphia] has dubbed them the Philly Fiascos.”

Shazam! Fury of the Gods arrives in theaters on March 17.
