The latest poster for Scream VI sees a very different Ghostface looming over an ensemble cast of potential victims and suspects.
Scream VI dropped a new poster with Ghostface taking center stage.
The new promotional image, which spotlights the entire cast and places significant emphasis on the new Ghostface killer, arrives alongside a brand new trailer for the horror film. The poster sees the iconic serial killer looming over returning characters Tara (Jenna Ortega), Sam (Melissa Barrera), Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere), while the towering skyscrapers of New York City set the stage for a very different Scream outing. As expected, Ghostface’s iconic combat knife helps divide the ensemble cast of potential suspects.
While specific plot details on Scream VI are still largely unknown, many fans are interested to see how the slasher franchise will adapt to the big city. The series has predominantly taken place within the sleepy town of Woodsboro, a location that many fans feel has become synonymous with Ghostface’s reputation. Despite this, the cast and crew of the sixth film are confident that the move to New York City will bring a new kind of terror to the story. “In a city like New York City, everyone is kind of doing their own thing and someone is screaming for help, and no one will come to their help, explained Barrera. “So it’s mortifying, because you’re chased by Ghostface, but you also see humanity and how that reacts in a situation like that.”
One Major Scream Absence
One Scream alum who won’t be returning for the sixth installment is star Neve Campbell, who has played protagonist Sydney Prescott since the original movie in 1996. The actor noted that she elected to not reprise the role as the studio’s offer was too low compared to the value that she brought to the franchise. “I couldn’t walk on set feeling that — feeling undervalued and feeling the unfairness, or lack of fairness, around that,” said Campbell.
Despite this loss, Ortega has promised that Scream VI will still acknowledge the existence of Sydney in the universe rather than ignoring her character entirely. “You know, it’s nice because there’s still a protectiveness in the script and that’s something that the actors had naturally over her because obviously we respect her and we want the best for her. She’s missed and thought of.”
Scream VI hits theaters on March 10.
