Gotham Knights executive producer Jeffrey Hunt confirms that production on the first season finale of the upcoming DC series has already begun.
Gotham Knights, the imminently debuting teen superhero series for The CW starring, among others, Supernatural‘s Misha Collins, is already shooting its first season finale.
Jeffrey Hunt, an executive producer on the DC Comics adaptation series, took to Instagram to share a photo of Episode 13’s front page script, confirming that Gotham Knights has started filming the final episode of Season 1. Hunt is directing the finale from a screenplay written by co-creators Chad Fiveash and James Stoteraux. Of course, to avoid giving fans possible spoilers, he covered the title of the episode, which has been revealed to be based on a story by Alegre Rodriquez and Michelle Furtney-Goodman.
The Gotham Knights series will revolve around the events following the death of Bruce Wayne/ Batman. It follows Bruce’s adopted son, Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan), a resilient and driven young man who always feels the pressure to live up to his father’s name. After finding out about Bruce’s superhero identity, Turner unexpectedly finds himself framed for the murder of the Caped Crusader. Comic book fans will find Turner Hayes unfamiliar, as he is an original character created just for the series.
Who Will Appear in the Gotham Knights TV Series?
In The CW drama, Turner will team up with some of the children of Batman’s enemies, each of whom has also been accused of killing Bruce Wayne. Together, they must uncover the truth behind the Dark Knight’s death and catch the elusive antagonist who framed them. In addition to siblings Harper (Fallon Smythe) and Culler Row (Tyler DiChiara), the titular team will also include Joker’s unpredictable daughter Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan), who’s described as a brutal fighter and skilled thief.
Gotham Knights will also feature the live-action debut of Carrie Kelley (Navia Robinson), who, in writer/artist Frank Miller’s iconic miniseries, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, becomes the first female to take up the mantle of Robin. The series will also introduce the newest live-action version of Cluemaster’s daughter, Stephanie Brown (Anna Lore), who’s described as a formidable coder. DC villains Harvey Dent/ Two-Face and Arthur Brown/ Cluemaster have also been confirmed to appear on the series, and will be portrayed by Collins and Ethan Embry, respectively. Embry will be joined by actor and real-life wife Sunny Mabrey, who has been tapped to play Stephanie’s charismatic mother Crystal Brown.
In a previous interview, Collins opened up about his portrayal of Harvey Dent by teasing his character’s role in the life of Bruce Wayne and Turner Hayes. “I’m playing Harvey Dent who is the D.A. of Gotham and I also happen to have been friends with Bruce Wayne. Turner Hayes was almost like an adopted nephew to me, so when the evidence piles up against him, I don’t want it to be true. But it does pile up quite compellingly.”
On another note, The CW’s DC Comics content is confirmed to be minimal under the control of new network owners Nexstar Media Group. This idea is especially evident as the former network centerpiece The Flash sprints to its final season, leaving Gotham Knights as the lone offering.
Gotham Knights will make its debut on March 14 on The CW.
