Gotham Knights Trailer Hints at Harvey Dent’s Descent Into Madness

Misha Collins as Harvey Dent in The CW's Gotham Knights

An official promo for the upcoming ninth episode of The CW’s Gotham Knights continues to tease Harvey Dent’s (Misha Collins) descent into madness.

Gotham Knights Season 1, Episode 9, “Dark Knight of the Soul,” is set to air on The CW on Tuesday, May 23. The episode’s promo opens on a distraught-looking Harvey and a bloodstained Court of Owls mask. Harvey can then be seen speaking to a camera. “The Harvey Dent you know is not a murderer,” he says. The rest of the promo focuses on the Gotham Knights’ mission to save Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan) from the Court of Owls, with the late Bruce Wayne’s adopted son experiencing mental and physical anguish of his own while in captivity.

The official synopsis for “Dark Knight of the Soul” reads as follows: “UNCOVERING THE TRUTH – After one of their own is captured by the Court of Owls, the Knights find themselves in a race against the clock. Stephanie (Anna Lore) and Harper (Fallon Smythe) work together to locate a crucial piece of material that could save their team member. Elsewhere, Harvey (Misha Collins) takes steps to protect himself, only to have his worst fear confirmed. Oscar Morgan, Olivia Rose Keegan, Navia Robinson and Tyler DiChiara also star.”

Two-Face Is Coming to Gotham Knights

While the Court of Owls are the main villains of Gotham Knights, the DC series is also building towards the debut of Two-Face. It has long been confirmed that Collins’ version of Harvey Dent would indeed undergo the transformation into the iconic Batman villain, with the Supernatural alum even offering teasing glimpses of his Two-Face makeup. It remains to be seen when said transformation will actually occur, but given the fact that Gotham Knights is now firmly in the back half of Season 1, viewers likely won’t have to wait much longer.

Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, Harvey Dent/Two-Face first appeared in 1942’s Detective Comics #66. Collins is the latest actor to play the character in live-action, following Billy Dee Williams in Batman (1989), Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever (1995), Aaron Eckhart in The Dark Knight (2008) and Nicholas D’Agosto on Fox’s Gotham. However, like Williams’ version of the character, D’Agosto’s version of Harvey Dent never actually became Two-Face. In other words, Collins’ Harvey will be the first live-action version of the character to undergo the transformation on the small screen.

New episodes of Gotham Knights air Tuesdays on The CW.
