About Monkey D. Luffy
Here we are going to talk about Moneky D.Luffy, who is none other than the protagonist of the series One Piece. The protagonist is also known by the name “Straw Hat Luffy,” as he always wears a straw hat which has become a symbol for him. Luffy is the founder and captain of Star Hat Pirates and is one of the top fighters of the group. Throughout the series, you will witness him running for a sole motive to become the Pirate King and find the legendary treasure that is said to be left by late Gol D. Roger “One piece.” His physical abilities are inhuman because at the age of 7, he accidentally indigested Gomu Gomu no Mi and gained the abilities of rubber. His body becomes very stretchy after this incident, and later in the series, you will be witnessing him using this ability in his battles.
The signature accessory that Luffy carries, his Straw Hat, was given to him by red-haired Shanks as a promise that they will meet again someday. Luffy is not an ordinary character; being a protagonist, he is bound to have a great family background. He is the son of Monkey D. Dragon – the Revolutionary Leader, the grandson of Money D. Grap – the marine hero, and the brother of “fire fist” late Portgas D.Ace. Anything about him is not going to be enough because the series has been running for a very long time, and being the protagonist, Luffy has achieved many things. Along with this, he has gone through many situations and had great character development, which cannot be summed up in this article where we are going to discuss his scars.
How did Luffy get the scar on his chest?
Coming back to the topics of scars, Luffy has many scars over his body, but two of them are more prominent than others. These two scars have a history that might hurt you being a Luffy stan. It is obvious that the scars are made of wounds, so he surely has hurt him, but how did this happen? The first scar we are going to discuss is Luffy’s X-shaped scar on his chest, which looks cool, and he never misses the chance to flex it. However, the history related to it is not so happy as it is a result of getting into a battle with Admiral Akainu, aka Sakazuki.
During the Battle of Marineford, Sakazuki, right after killing Luffy’s elder brother Ace, rushed to kill Luffy. While the Admiral was going to kill Luffy, he was struck by a stupor and was unable to move due to the shock of his brother’s death. Jinbe tries to carry catatonic Luffy to a safe place, but about time, Sakazuki used his Magu Magu Fruit powers and attempted to land a life-threatening punch on both Luffy and Jinbe. However, he failed to kill him but managed to sear off a huge chunk of flesh out of Luffy’s Chest, hence giving him that scar.
How did Luffy get the scar on his face?
The battle with Admiral was very well known as it was told to address the death of Ace. But the small scar Luffy carries on his face has been a mystery till over a thousand chapters of the manga. Finally, the creators have revealed the reason, and it sounds quite funny and hurtful at the same time. As we know that Luffy has been a very stubborn boy that always proves him no matter what; this scar is the result of his attitude only. Unlike the chest scar, Luffy got this one at a very early age as a result of his immature act.
Even as a kid Luffy always wanted to become a pirate king and wanted to prove to Shanks that he is very well capable despite his age. In order to prove his point, Luffy stabbed himself in the face right under his eye to prove Shanks and his crew. All of them thought that he is just bluffing and not going to do it really until he took the action and made everyone shocked over it.
