Jedi Survivor – Where Are the Members of the Mantis Crew?

Star Wars Jedi Survivor Mantis crew reunited

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Respawn Entertainment’s sequel to its hit Star Wars adventure Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, continues the story of Cal Kestis in his fight against the Empire while he searches the galaxy for a place to remain hidden from them. The sequel’s narrative is full of both heartwarming and heart-wrenching moments as Cal encounters a host of new and old characters alike, including the former Mantis crew.

As Jedi: Survivor is set five years after the events of Jedi: Fallen Order, much has transpired, leaving both Cal and the former Mantis crew in vastly different places than they were before. Thankfully, Jedi: Survivor helps fill in the gaps as Cal gradually reunites with each of his friends throughout the narrative. Here is when and where players can meet Greez, Cere, and Merrin in Jedi: Survivor, along with a bit of backstory to explain what each of them has been up to since Jedi: Fallen Order.

Greez Opened Up a Cantina on Koboh

On his departure from Coruscant at the end of Chapter 1 in Jedi: Survivor, and after a diagnostics report reveals a faulty gyro module on the Mantis, Cal realizes that only Greez Dritus would know how to fix it. He then plots a course for the Latero’s new home on the rugged planet of Koboh. Chapter 2 begins with the Mantis barely making it to Koboh and eventually crash-landing in a dusty canyon a great distance from the outpost at Rambler’s Reach, the planet’s main settlement and location of Greez’s cantina, Pyloon’s Saloon.

Since Jedi: Fallen Order, Greez has obviously kept busy running his cantina, but players will likely notice that he also appears to have lost his right arm. In the novel Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars, which covers some of the events between Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor, Cal engages in combat with the Fifth Brother and is eventually knocked unconscious. As Greez proceeds to bring Cal aboard the Mantis, the Fifth Brother lunges at Cal. Greez dives in front of Cal in an attempt to save him, but loses his arm to the Fifth Brother’s lightsaber in the process. Although Cal and Greez spent some time together after the events of Jedi: Fallen Order before parting ways, they are overjoyed to be reunited in Jedi: Survivor.

Cere Has Been Busy Rebuilding the Jedi Archives on Jedha

Upon learning about the hidden world of Tanalorr at the end of Chapter 2 in Jedi: Survivor, Cal decides it’s time to reconnect with his old mentor and guide, Cere Junda, on the arid moon of Jedha in order to gather information on Tanalorr and the Jedi of the High Republic-era. A little past the halfway point in Chapter 3, Cal finally arrives at Cere’s Base, where he receives a surprise greeting from Eno Cordova and shortly after, Cere.

During their first conversation after being reunited, Cal discovers that Cere has been busy rebuilding the Jedi Temple Archives. She hasn’t been alone in her work, however, as she and Eno have partnered with an organization known as the Hidden Path, a group of Force-sensitive individuals who provide safe passage and new identities to anyone who has been persecuted by the Empire. It is clear that her time spent away from the rest of the Mantis crew has been dedicated to a very noble cause, to put it lightly.

Merrin’s Travels Eventually Lead Her to Cal

<!–[if IE 9]> <![endif]–>Merrin and Cal talking in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

At the beginning of Chapter 3 in Jedi: Survivor, Cal establishes contact with a religious group called the Narkis Anchorites who are working with Cere, and they inform Cal that Cere’s contact would meet him on Jedha once he arrives. Unfortunately, a storm prevents the Mantis crew from landing near the rendezvous point, forcing Cal to travel on foot to meet Cere’s contact, who is eventually revealed to be Nightsister Merrin. Merrin then joins Cal on his journey to Cere’s Base, a journey that includes several informative conversations about Merrin’s departure from the former crew.

During a campfire conversation between Cal and Merrin, at around the halfway point of Chapter 3, Merrin reveals that her reason for leaving the Mantis crew after the events of Jedi: Fallen Order was so that she could see the galaxy on her own terms and “find herself” by reflecting in all the places and people she encountered. She had already revealed to Cal upon their first encounter that she would visit Cere from time to time during her travels, and when she heard the Mantis was arriving on Jedha, she offered to guide Cal to Cere’s Base. Although they were separated for a time, the two companions find comfort in being together again.
