Hawkeye and Avengers: Endgame actor Jeremy Renner says he’s recovering at home following his very serious snowplow accident on New Year’s Day.
Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Jeremy Renner says he’s returned home to continue recovering from the injuries he suffered during a serious snowplow accident on Jan 1.
Renner provided a promising update for fans on the progress of his recovery. Moreover, he even managed to sneak in a plug for his TV series Mayor of Kingstown, tweeting that he’s watching Season 2 with his family. Despite suffering what he calls “brain fog” following the tragic incident, Renner revealed his excitement about being back in familiar confines. The tweet was met with considerable support from his followers and fellow industry players who offered their best wishes, many of whom were bracing themselves for the worst in the immediate aftermath of the accident.
Fortunately, Renner has been making progress since the snowplow accident, which took place on his property in Reno, Nevada on New Year’s Day. The acclaimed actor was using a Snowcat to clear out the snow that accumulated in front of his home before he was trampled underneath the vehicle, which rolled over one of Renner’s legs. He suffered significant blood loss, blunt chest trauma and other orthopedic injuries from the accident, and had to be airlifted to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
In a subsequent press conference, Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve revealed that Renner was helping a citizen stranded in the snow at the time of the accident. The mayor went on to praise the actor’s selflessness and explain how much of an asset he’s been to the community, noting his tendency to donate toys and other items to those in need. Renner’s family also released a statement thanking medical personnel, the mayor and fans for their help and support throughout the actor’s painful ordeal.
Jeremy Renner’s Recovery
Recently, Renner shared a short video update about his condition alongside his sister and mother, receiving a rubdown and seemingly in good spirits about the situation. He also celebrated his 52nd birthday in ICU with his family on Jan. 7, posting a photo of himself and the hospital staff, thanking the medics for their help as he aims for a full recovery. Despite widespread speculation about the state of Renner’s leg injury (some reports claimed he needed amputation), updates from hospital staff and Renner have been largely encouraging.
Of course, Renner is known for starring as Clint Barton/Hawkeye in various Marvel films including Thor, The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame and Black Widow. He also featured in the Disney+ miniseries, Hawkeye, where he starred alongside Alaqua Cox. Cox reprises her role in the miniseries as Maya Lopez/Echo in the upcoming show Echo, which is a Hawkeye spinoff. Before his Marvel run, Renner received Oscar nominations in two consecutive years, one in 2010 for The Hurt Locker (Best Lead Actor) and 2011 for The Town (Best Supporting Actor).
Since 2021, Renner has starred in Mayor of Kingstown as Mike McClusky, the head of a family of power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan. Tackling themes of corruption, systemic racism and inequality, the series also features Dianne Wiest, Hugh Dillon and Taylor Handley.
Mayor of Kingstown Season 2 is streaming on Paramount+.
