Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Continues the Arkham Story

The game marks another foray into the DC universe for Rocksteady Games after its massively successful run of the Batman: Arkham trilogy. Suicide Squad lets players take on the roles of Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot and King Shark in a story often explored in the comics. A recent trailer for the game unveiled at The Game Awards shocked fans by revealing that Bruce Wayne somehow didn’t die at the end of Batman: Arkham Knight.

In that game, Bruce Wayne’s secret identity as Batman gets exposed to the world, leading to a seemingly fiery death for him and Alfred as Wayne Manor explodes. However, the trailer reveals that Arkham‘s Batman still lives, though with some notable changes. In the trailer, Wayne’s Batman appears and kills a guard, breaking his oath never to take someone’s life. Besides shocking audiences with that sight, it also revealed that beloved voice actor Kevin Conroy returned to play Batman one last time before his passing in 2022.

Suicide Squad Suffers Massive Delays

A rumor surfaced in February 2022 that the game had been delayed until 2023. The following month, Rocksteady creative director Sefton Hill formally announced the setback. “We’ve made the difficult decision to delay Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League to Spring 2023,” Hill wrote. “I know a delay is frustrating but that time is going into making the best game we can. I look forward to bringing the chaos to Metropolis together. Thanks for your patience.”

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League releases for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Microsoft Windows on May 26, 2023.
