Legend of Vox Machina Clip Sends Grog On a Nightmarish Rampage

Grog The Legend of Vox Machina

A nightmare grants The Legend of Vox Machina’s Grog Strongjaw alarming clarity about the true nature of his looted vampiric weapon, Craven Edge.

Grog Strongjaw’s cursed blade, Craven Edge, unveiled its true nature as a double-edged sword in The Legend of Vox Machina’s latest nightmarish sequence.

A bloodthirsty dream-turned-nightmare saw Travis Willingham’s Grog at the center of deadly arena combat, a favored terrain of the barbarian Goliath. However, as Grog’s weapon feasted greedily on the blood of each opponent, Craven Edge ballooned into a force that the freshly bearded Grog could no longer control. Suddenly, Vox Machina’s tank found himself dealing a devastating final blow to his best friend, Pike Trickfoot, at the blade’s behest. Grog’s image then widened to reveal that Craven Edge had carved its way through each member of Vox Machina before claiming Pike. Once Grog woke from his nightmare, the full cost of his new toy took clear shape.

Vox Machina Faces Multiple Threats in Season 2

The Goliath had been approaching this particular crossroads from the moment he looted the blade from defeated Season 1 villain Sylas Briarwood. Taliesin Jaffe’s gunslinger Percy De Rolo freed himself from the clutches of a cursed weapon in Season 1, only for Grog to inadvertently carry on a tradition that could now threaten the entire adventuring party. However, Craven Edge is far from the only menace looming over Vox Machina, as the party seeks to thwart the impending reign of the four tyrannical dragons known as the Chroma Conclave.

The Chroma Conclave consists of four ancient chromatic dragons: Umbrasyl, the Hope Devourer; Raishan, the Diseased Deceiver; Vorugal, the Frigid Doom and Thordak, the Cinder King. The plot of the first three episodes, coupled with the revealed episode titles, hints at Umbrasyl as the team’s primary foe for Season 2. With The Legend of Vox Machina renewed for Season 3, it’s unclear how long the show will follow the Chroma Conclave arc from Critical Role Campaign 1.

The Mighty Nein Animated Series

The latest episodes of The Legend of Vox Machina arrived off the heels of the announcement that Critical Role will continue its relationship with Amazon Prime Video to adapt the adventures of Campaign 2’s Mighty Nein into an animated series as well. Soon Vox Machina will not be the only animated heroes traversing the realm of Exandria. For now, the party has four dragons and a vampire’s fittingly bloodthirsty blade to contend with in their high-stakes second season.

The Legend of Vox Machina continues its Season 2 adventure with new episodes every Thursday on Prime Video.
