President Loki surrounded by variants of himself all staring into a hole

As for why Loki could be staring down the barrel of a delay, the report also alleges that Disney is in the process of further polishing Season 2 to ensure the story is as tight as possible. This emphasis on fine-tuning the narrative comes in the wake of fans complaining about the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s overall dip in quality throughout Phase 4. Insiders also specified that Marvel Studios is also weighing up its options regarding the future of Jonathan Majors, the actor who portrayed big bad Kang the Conqueror in both Loki Season 1 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Many fans have questioned the actor’s role in the franchise after several allegations surfaced of the actor physically abusing several people, including his girlfriend and a crewmember who worked on Quantumania. Majors has denied any wrongdoing but has already lost several major film projects in the weeks following the accusations.

What Lies in Loki’s Future

As for Loki Season 2, the series is expected to pick up right where the original chapter came to a close. Having met He Who Remains, the creator of the Time Variance Authority and the purveyor of the multiverse who died at the hands of Sylvie, a Loki variant, Tom Hiddleston’s iconic Norse god will embark on a new quest to find and thwart Kang’s plans. Stepping away from being a traditional anti-hero, Loki is expected to further transform into a hero as the narrative unfolds. “He was always a little bit of this outsider in Asgard in the royal palace there and I think Season 1 was about discovering that he could be more,” said producer Stephen Broussard. “I think Season 2 will continue that in unexpected ways. So I’m excited for people to go on that journey with Loki in the hands of Tom, who is one of the most amazing actors that I’ve ever had the good fortune of working with.”

Loki Season 2 does not yet have a confirmed release date.
