The Mandalorian Season 3’s latest trailer teases Dinn Djarin’s most perilous quest yet as he and Grogu head to Mandalore to find redemption.
The Mandalorian is back with a Season 3 trailer that sets up another sprawling intergalactic adventure in the Star Wars franchise.
Having lost his honor for removing his helmet during a pivotal scene in Season 2, the titular Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) is tasked with restoring his honor and redeeming himself in the eyes of his clan. To do so, Din Djarin and his ever-popular traveling companion Grogu venture to the burned planet of Mandalore, fending off various attackers who wish to stand in his way. The trailer provides a better look at the return of Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), who seemingly is looking to reclaim the Darksaber, and teases the villainous plans of Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito).
At the time of writing, plot details on The Mandalorian Season 3 remain scarce but the show’s crew has teased that fans of the expansive Star Wars universe are in for some major surprises. Pascal noted that audiences can expect some moments that compare to Luke Skywalker’s shocking return in Season 2. “I think some of the best things about Season 1 and Season 2 of The Mandalorian were the surprises,” Pascal said. “There’s so much that you’re going to see… There are more secrets to keep.”
The Mandalorian’s Surprises
Lucasfilm has largely managed to hide which major characters could appear in Season 3 but the series’ writing credits already have fans speculating. While Jon Favreau takes the lead on most of the episodes, key chapters are penned by Ahsoka Tano’s creator Dave Filoni, leading many to believe the lightsaber-wielder will be returning in live-action. Some fans suspect The Mandalorian Season 3 will tie in the Ahsoka spinoff series but this has yet to be confirmed.
As for who Din Djarin will be fighting in the latest chapter of his saga, Esposito has spoken at length about Moff Gideon’s return to the saga. Having had his plans to capture Grogu thwarted, he’ll be returning with even more fire in his belly. “You always want to see the phoenix rise from the ashes. Or, you want to see a nefarious villain rise from the ashes,” Esposito said. “And believe me, he will.”
The Mandalorian Season 3 premieres on Disney+ on March 1. Seasons 1 and 2 are now available on the streamer.
