A musical spoof of Good Omens has arrived, courtesy of The Hillywood Show.
The video, posted to YouTube, sees the angel Aziraphale (Hannah Hindi, voiced by Steve Hayes) and the demon Crowley (Hilly Hindi, voiced by Elliott Crossley) as they discuss their plan to avert Armageddon — only to realize they’ve misplaced the Antichrist. After the song concludes, Crowley is contacted by Good Omens co-writer and showrunner Neil Gaiman, who hands off a basket for him to deliver to Amazon. He passes by a confused stranger (Daniel Mays, who played Arthur Young on the series) before handing the parcel off to an Amazon employee (Maggie Service, who played Sister Theresa Garrulous). She peeks inside the basket, revealing a title card that announces Season 2 of Good Omens will premiere July 28.
Created by the Hindi sisters in 2006, The Hillywood Show makes musical parodies of blockbuster films and TV shows, with past spoofs taking on fan favorites like The Lord of the Rings, Supernatural and Twilight. The channel currently has 1.78 million subscribers and has been recognized and praised by some of the stars whose work is parodied, including the cast of Doctor Who and Lady Gaga.
What Is Good Omens?
Prime Video’s Good Omens is based on the 1990 novel of the same name by Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett. The first season was released in 2019 and was met with praise for its writing, humor and performances by Michael Sheen and David Tennant in the lead roles. Initially conceived as a miniseries adapting the novel, Prime Video renewed Good Omens for a second season in 2021, with Gaiman returning as writer and using ideas for a sequel he and Pratchett conceived together but were unable to write before Pratchett’s death in 2015. Gaiman has commented that the new season will use lessons learned from working on the show to tell a new Good Omens story, saying “I feel like Good Omens Season 1 was ‘Chopsticks.’ This is much more me getting to the whole orchestra.”
Season 2 of Good Omens will consist of six episodes, all written by Gaiman and John Finnemore and directed by Douglas MacKinnon. In addition to Sheen and Tennant, the season will star Jon Hamm as the archangel Gabriel, Ty Tennant as Ennon and Peter Davison as Alastair. Several actors from Good Omens Season 1 are confirmed to return, including Michael McKean, Gloria Obianyo, Miranda Richardson, Maggie Service, Reece Shearsmith, Nina Sosanya and Paul Adeyefa, though it’s been noted that some may be playing different characters in Season 2.
Good Omens is available to stream on Prime Video. Season 2 premieres July 28.
