Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman and Jamie Foxx’s Electro are the latest Spider-Man figures to join the No Way Home Funko Pop! Final Battle Series set.
Avid Funko Pop! collectors will soon be able to add Spider-Man: No Way Home tie-in figures of Sandman and Electro to their No Way Home Final Battle Series set.
Per Collider, the next wave of No Way Home Final Battle Series figures has been unveiled, adding Sandman and Electro to the eight-piece set, which is based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe film’s third-act fight at the Statue of Liberty. The Deluxe Pop! Sandman finds the villain climbing the scaffolding of the statue with his massive sandy hands while the Deluxe Pop! Electro shows the villain surging with power above part of the Sandman. Alongside Sandman and Electro, the No Way Home Final Battle Series set will include Deluxe Pop! figures of The Lizard, Doctor Octopus, the Green Goblin and all three Spider-Men. Sandman and Electro will be available only at Target and are currently available for pre-order.
After appearing as one of the main villains in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 (2007), Thomas Haden Church returned to voice Flint Marko/Sandman in No Way Home. The MCU threequel also featured Jamie Foxx reprising his role as Max Dillon/Electro from Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014). The character was drastically redesigned for his MCU debut, foregoing his blue Ultimate Marvel-based design for one that paid homage to his original mainstream comic book appearance. Foxx’s Electro was met with positive reviews from critics and fans, with many deeming the character’s new look in No Way Home as an improvement over the 2014 film’s version.
The MCU Multiverse Meets Sony’s Spider-Verse
Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) picked up immediately after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019), with the MCU threequel following Tom Holland’s Peter Parker as he enlists the help of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to rehide his identity after it was revealed to the world by Mysterio. However, the spell Strange used went awry, resulting in villains from across the multiverse entering the MCU. No Way Home is notable for being the first time all three of Sony’s live-action Spider-Man actors have shared the screen together, with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s respective webslingers appearing during the film’s third act.
While the future of the Spider-Man franchise in the MCU hasn’t been officially announced by Marvel Studios and Sony, Holland has reportedly closed a deal to return as the MCU’s beloved Wall-Crawler in a fourth MCU Spider-Man film, which is reportedly in early development. While plot details remain scarce for Spider-Man 4, the sequel will likely pick up after the events of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which ended with Doctor Strange erasing everyone’s memories of Peter Parker to protect the multiverse. The film’s final moments saw Peter resume his vigilantism, wearing a new comics-accurate suit.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is available to own on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD. The Sandman and Electro Pop Funko! figures are currently available to pre-order at Target.
