The official Twitter account of Shueisha’s Shonen Jump + service announced on Sunday that a television anime of Asato Mizu’s romantic comedy manga series Aharen-san wa Hakarenai (Aharen Is Indecipherable) received the green light for its premiere in April 2022. Inori Minase will play the main character Queen Aharen, and Takuma Terashima will play Raidō.

The story of Aharen-san wa Hakarenai follows the daily adventures of Queen Aharen, a quiet girl with a blank expression, and Raidou, the boy who sits next to her in class. At first, Raidou assumes that Aharen has a cold personality, but she becomes much friendlier one day after Raidou returns her an eraser that Aharen had dropped. Unfortunately, Aharen has trouble communicating and is a terrible judge of personal boundaries, she always keeps people too close or too far …
Mizu launched the manga in Shonen Jump + on January 29, 2017, and Shueisha will publish the 12th volume of the compiled book on August 4.
Mizu launched the previous Denki-gai no Honya-san (Electric Town Bookstore Worker) comedy manga series in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Flapper magazine in 2011 and ended it in 2017. The series inspired a 12-episode television anime in 2014 Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan. Pony Canyon licensed and released the series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in North America in 2015, with distribution by Right Stuf, Inc.
