Sarah Michelle Gellar opens up about the possibility of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan theory coming true in her new show Wolf Pack.
Wolf Pack star Sarah Michelle Gellar addressed a fan theory regarding the relationship between her current character, arson investigator Kristin Ramsey, and her role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
In an interview with Digital Spy, Gellar was asked about a fan theory that posits Wolf Pack‘s Kristin Ramsey is actually Buffy herself, who has since changed her name and identity. “That’s really funny. I like it. I’m down for it,” Gellar said. “No, I can tell you that one is not the case. That is not what you will find out, but that’s funny.” She added, “Wouldn’t it be funny if you just found out, [Wolf Pack] season two is just Buffy? It’s all a ruse.”
Gellar starred as Buffy Summers for all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired from 1997 to 2003. While Wolf Pack may not be associated with Buffy in any form, the werewolf teen drama sees Gellar’s return to the supernatural genre. According to showrunner and series creator Jeff Davis, Gellar was back in “fighting form” on the set of the Paramount+ series.
“I didn’t understand what we had until we were cutting the first trailer, and I watched a scene of her breaking through a fence with a gun,” he said. “Oh, shit. We didn’t just get Sarah Michelle Gellar, we got the one everybody’s been waiting to see for years: the ass-kicking Sarah Michelle Gellar.” Davis has stated that he was surprised Gellar agreed to join the series at all, particularly after her iconic role in Buffy. “She really liked the script,” he said. “I’m just as surprised as anybody else that she said yes.”
Wolf Pack Promises Twists and Turns
In terms of plot twists, Gellar teased in a recent interview that Wolf Pack will have its fair share of surprises, hinting at a major reveal in Season 1 that audiences won’t see coming. “Because the reveal is so worth it,” she said. “You just don’t see it coming. It’s going this way, then it goes this way, and then it goes this way. Normally with characters I play, it’s right there. Boom. This was so much fun to get to sort of build and go, ‘Why is she there? Where does she fit into all of this?'”
Paramount+’s Wolf Pack is based on the novel of the same name by Edo van Belkom. Per the series’ official synopsis, Wolf Pack will follow “a group of teenagers whose lives are forever changed when a California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature.” Along with Gellar, the series stars Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson, Tyler Lawrence Gray and Rodrigo Santoro.
Wolf Pack is streaming on Paramount+.
