Stargirl’s Brec Bassinger reveals that there were plans for Season 4 to crossover with other DCTV shows like Titans and The Flash.
Stargirl star Brec Bassinger recently shared that the fourth season of the canceled superhero drama would have explored the DC Multiverse.
During an appearance at Starfury Conventions in Birmingham, Bassinger revealed that Stargirl Season 4 was going to be about the multiverse. She also confirmed that her recent cameo in Titans was supposed to set up this storyline, which would have featured crossover appearances from other DCTV shows like The Flash. Stargirl was canceled in October 2022 midway through the show’s third season.
Stargirl Was Part of the Arrowverse
DC’s Stargirl premiered in May 2020 on DC Universe with Bassinger starring in the title role of Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl. While originally developed as a standalone project, the DC superhero series was integrated into the Arrowverse during the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event, which established the events of Stargirl as existing on Earth-2 of the reborn multiverse. While Bassinger never crossed over to any of the other Arrowverse shows, The Flash‘s John Wesley Shipp did appear twice on Stargirl as speedster Jay Garrick.
However, Bassinger did make a brief cameo appearance in Titans Season 4 during the episode, “Dude, Where’s My Gar?,” which saw Garfield Logan/Beast Boy (Ryan Potter) traveling through the Multiverse while navigating The Red. While exploring this animal realm, Beast Boy saw glimpses of other Earths’ superheroes like Grant Gustin’s The Flash (Earth-Prime) and Zachary Levi’s Shazam (DC Extended Universe). He also traveled to Earth-2 where he had a brief conversation with Bassinger’s Stargirl. Stargirl creator and Titans executive producer Geoff Johns previously confirmed this exchange would have been referenced in a fourth season of Stargirl. He also suggested that Stargirl might have expanded on the moment and “kept Gar in Blue Valley for an episode.”
What’s Next for the DC Multiverse?
Less than a week after Titans‘ Beast Boy-centric episode, The Flash confirmed that Oliver Queen/Spectre (Stephen Amell) was still responsible for rebirthing the DC Multiverse, which encompasses all past and present DC shows and movies. While the multiverse is seemingly safe for now, it is possible that it could be rebooted in the near future as DC Studios James Gunn has made it clear that he wants the majority of DC content to exist in the same universe instead of on separate Earths.
