The Super Mario Bros. Movie will hit premium video on demand on May 16, just 41 days after debuting in theaters. As part of Universal Pictures’ current deal with exhibitors, any movie passing $50 million at the box office can jump to VOD/streaming after 31 days, meaning the release date is actually later than it could’ve been.
