Fan-favorite Batman: The Animated Series villain Harley Quinn is set to return as a high-end action figure, courtesy of Mondo.
Mondo recently unveiled the Batman: The Animated Series Harley Quinn 1/6 Scale Figure via the Mondo Shop website. Boasting a cartoon-accurate design and multiple points of articulation, the 11.25″ figure comes packaged with a range of accessories, including interchangeable portraits and hands, a sledgehammer, Batman’s utility belt, and more. A timed edition of Batman: The Animated Series Harley Quinn 1/6 Scale Figure will also go on sale for one week that features exclusive extras, including Harley’s pet hyenas, Bud and Lou.
Mondo continuing to expand its Batman: The Animated Series line reflects the enduring popularity of the show itself, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022. This milestone was marked with several pieces of tie-in merchandise, including a new 9-inch Batman figure by McFarlane Toys. Based on Batman: The Animated Series co-creator Bruce Timm’s original character design, the McFarlane Toys 30th anniversary Batman figure includes an LED-equipped display base that allows fans to recreate an iconic shot from the show’s opening credits. A special edition signed by Timm was produced, as well.
Batman: TAS Stars Pay Tribute to Kevin Conroy
Batman: The Animated Series‘ 30th anniversary year was ultimately a bittersweet occasion, as it also saw the death of the show’s lead voice actor, Kevin Conroy. Conroy, who also voiced Bruce Wayne and his costumed alter-ego in a range of other media, passed away in November 2022, sparking a public outpouring of grief by fans and industry professionals alike. This included Joker actor Mark Hamill, who described his late co-star as “a brilliant actor” and “the definitive Batman.” Hamill added that Conroy was “the ideal partner” and credited much of his success in the Joker role to Conroy’s collaborative style.
Hamill has since suggested that he’s unlikely to portray the Joker again without Conroy, noting that he was often reluctant to sign on for Batman projects the late actor wasn’t part of when he was still alive. “They would call and say, ‘They want you to do the Joker,’ and my only question was, ‘Is Kevin Batman?'” Hamill said. “If they said yes, I would say, ‘I’m in.’ We were like partners. We were like Laurel and Hardy. Without Kevin there, there doesn’t seem to be a Batman for me.”
Batman: The Animated Series Harley Quinn 1/6 Scale Figure is available for pre-order on May 9, 2023, and carries an RRP of $185 ($200 for the timed edition).
