According to her résumé, The Flash alum Jona Xiao is attached to play a leading role in an undisclosed Marvel project for Disney+.
Jona Xiao — known for her role as Carrie Bates/Rainbow Rider 2.0 in the seventh season of The CW’s DC series The Flash — is reportedly attached to star in an upcoming Marvel project for Disney+.
Per The Cosmic Circus, Xiao’s résumé on Actors Access seems to confirm that she has joined the cast of an undisclosed, small-screen Marvel project in a leading role. The show or special Xiao is apparently attached to is simply listed as “NDA Marvel Project,” implying the details are currently locked behind a non-disclosure agreement. Xiao’s role is simply listed as “Lead Female,” with Disney+ listed as the project’s home. This job is listed alongside some of Xiao’s other roles, including Rainbow Rider 2.0 on The Flash, Grace Lin on the CBS series S.W.A.T. and “Recurring Guest Star” (Daisy) on Starz and Lionsgate’s Hightown.
Marvel Has Plenty of Disney+ Projects in the Works
While it’s unknown what project Xiao has evidently joined and what character she might play, it should be noted that Marvel Studios has a number of live-action Disney+ series coming down the pipeline as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Such projects include Secret Invasion, Ironheart, Echo, Agatha: Coven of Chaos and Daredevil: Born Again. Marvel Studios is also developing a few live-action Disney+ series it has yet to formally announce, such as Wonder Man (starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Vision Quest (starring Paul Bettany).
Moreover, Marvel Studios has confirmed that its current Disney+ slate includes a second season of its existing live-action series Loki, as well as second and third seasons of its animated series What If…?. To that end, it’s also unknown if the project Xiao is involved with will be animated or live-action. Additional animated series Marvel Studios has in the works for Disney+ include Spider-Man: Freshman Year, Marvel Zombies and X-Men ’97.
Furthermore, while Xiao’s mystery Marvel project is most likely a Disney+ series, the possibility also exists that she has joined the cast of an unannounced Marvel Studios Special Presentation. Thus far, Marvel Studios has debuted two Disney+ specials as part of the MCU: Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. The Cosmic Circus previously reported that the studio is also developing Disney+ specials about the Silver Surfer and Nova, respectively, though such projects have not yet been officially announced.
