The Owl House Debuts New Clip From Disney’s ‘For the Future’ Special

King from The Owl House episode For the Future

The Collector is front and center in a new clip from The Owl House Season 3, “For the Future,” bringing along King and Odalia Blight.

A new clip from Season 3 of The Owl House puts the spotlight on the special’s villain, the Collector (Fryda Wolff), showcasing an even more sinister side to his personality.

The clip comes from “For the Future,” the second of three specials that will make up Season 3 of the series. It begins with the Collector and King (Alex Hirsch) riding upon a star as they arrive at the former’s home, which floats atop the Titan’s skull. As they enter, King mentions wanting to check on the Owl Beast–likely referring to Eda Clawthorne–and getting her some food. “What do mortals eat, again?” responds the Collector. “Rocks? Fire? Gravity?”

The Collector and King are soon greeted by Amity Blight’s loathsome mother Odalia (Rachael MacFarlane), who is enslaved by the Collector and called “Mamadalia” by him. When the Collector suggests she makes pizza bagels for the Owl Beast, Odalia tries to convince him that she could be “much more use to [him] than being a…Mamadalia,” though the Collector is having none of this. The video ends with the Collector dropping a few of the inhabitants of the Boiling Isles that he turned into puppets on Odalia and telling her to drag them back to an area he calls “The Collection Room” as he and King float off.

The Final Episodes of The Owl House

Prior to the release of the clip, fans were treated to both an Owl House trailer and another clip from “For the Future,” which gave them a taste of what the Collector had done to the Boiling Isles since King freed him last season and what he was like. A synopsis for Owl House‘s return also fleshed out the special’s plot, which said that protagonist Luz Noceda and her friends have to race against Emperor Belos in order to “confront the Collector and save the Boiling Isles.”

“For the Future” is also the penultimate chapter in The Owl House‘s story, as the show was announced to have been canceled back in 2021. Series creator Dana Terrace later shared her thoughts on this, remarking at the time, “At the end of the day, there are a few business people who oversee what fits into the Disney brand and one day one of those guys decided [The Owl House] didn’t fit that ‘brand.’ The story is serialized (BARELY compared to any average anime lmao), our audience skews older, and that just didn’t fit this one guy’s tastes. That’s it! Ain’t that wild? Really grinds my guts, boils my brain, kicks my shins, all the things. It sucks but it is what it is.”

The Owl House special “For the Future” premieres Jan. 21 at 9 p.m. on Disney Channel.
