Scrubs star Zach Braff addressed whether the cast would return for a reunion.

As reported by TV Insider, Braff appeared alongside Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence at a Q&A panel for the Apple TV+ series Shrinking. When asked whether Braff would reprise his lead role in a Scrubs reunion, he left that question up to Lawrence. “I think if he can figure it out, every single one of us would say yes,” the Garden State writer remarked. Currently, Braff hosts the podcast Fake Doctors, Real Friends with his Scrubs co-star Donald Faison where they discuss on-set experiences. The podcast also features several of their fellow cast members, including Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, Neil Flynn and John C. McGinley.

The ABC sitcom Scrubs follows protagonist John “J.D.” Dorian (Braff) and his medical adventures as a young doctor at the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital. In Season 1, J.D. and his best friend, Turk, must endure their mentor, Dr. Perry Cox, as interns right out of medical school. Scrubs primarily employs slapstick comedy while focusing on a doctor’s daily struggles, like an overload of patients and an overwhelming amount of paperwork. From 2001 to 2010, Scrubs aired 182 episodes throughout nine seasons before its cancellation.

In terms of a different kind of reunion, Braff previously discussed starring alongside Faison in the Arrowverse. “Listen, this keeps coming up, and I want you to tell all your followers: I am down to play Ted Kord,” Braff said. “But yeah, Donald said that everyone [is saying that I should be Ted Kord]… I don’t follow comic books. I’m sorry.” In DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Faison debuted as Booster Gold in the Season 7 finale, “Knocked Down, Knocked Up.” The character also briefly appeared in the news archive in The Flash Season 8, Episode 6, “Impulsive Excessive Disorder.”

In addition to Scrubs, ABC has had tremendous success with the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. An allusion to the 1858 anatomy textbook Grey’s Anatomy, the show focuses on the lives of surgical interns, residents and attendings at Seattle Grace Hospital, later named Grey Sloan Memorial. In November 2022, Ellen Pompeo announced her departure from the series after playing protagonist Meredith Grey for the past 19 seasons. In addition to Pompeo, Grey’s Anatomy has lost most of its original cast members, including Patrick Dempsey, Justin Chambers and Jesse Williams. As of writing, only Chandra Wilson and James Pickens, Jr. are the only two actors left from Season 1.

All nine seasons of Scrubs are available to stream on Hulu.
